“Deep in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in the verdant hills of Verona,
Pennsylvania, a third-generation clockmaker works tirelessly to bring old world
quality into the new millennium.”
If this is how YOU think about clocks, it's time to re-think -- time.
A few years ago, Hugh Shaw III -- computer programmer, musician, and graphic designer -- was standing in the
recently re-modeled kitchen at the home of friends in San Francisco, and noticed that the striking modernism of
the room was being shattered by the presence of an unremarkable store-bought clock.
Hugh set about scouring the internet to find something suitable for his friends’ kitchen. He found nothing.
To be sure, there were
fine art reproductions used as the background for a clock -- the clock on art --
and sculpted pieces that incorporated a clock in some way
-- the clock in art
.
There were even novel pieces which diplayed the time in ways which make any art aspect
seem non-existent or incidental. Of them all, some were beautiful, some not so
beautiful -- but none radically departed from the
traditional form and function
of the clock.
Hugh decided, then, to design and build
something for his friends that no one in San Francisco (or on Earth, for
that matter) had ever seen before -- thus was the birth of
TM.
Actually, it can be said that what you will see on this site is less a catalog of clocks, more a
gallery of kinetic art, a fact attested to by the many animations you'll find here. Indeed,
TM
pieces
are
graphic, striking, even thought-provoking art.
It just happens that they will reveal the time -- IF you know how to see
it.
We invite you now to relax, browse over to the first of our Catalog Pages
, then select your favorite piece.
And keep in mind as you’re looking, they make great gifts!
Use the way to order you like best, and you’ll be on your way to becoming part of a new
tradition.
So...prepare to step off the beaten path and treat your eyes to something out of the ordinary:
